LCAS' Great School Clean-Up Day

LCAS Scholars and Staff, You ROCK!!

LCAS Great School Clean-Up Day, held on Friday, October 6, 2017, was an amazing day at Lynwood Community Adult School! Students from various classes and their teachers labored together in love to transform our school into a clean and eco-friendly establishment.  Here's a message of gratitude from Ms. M. Torres, Environmental Science Instructor:

"Dear LCAS administration, staff, faculty, and students:

A hearty “thank you” to all those who participated in the Great School Clean-Up Day to beautify the LCAS Atlantic Site campus on Friday, October 6, 2017. The event was organized by the Adult Secondary Education program’s Environmental Science Class. More than 40 volunteers from Mr. Fragoso, Mrs. Castelo, Mr. Ramos, Mr. Wiseman, Mrs. Tunnell, Mrs. Robinson, Mrs. Wade, Mrs. Cabrales, and Ms. Torres fanned out throughout Lynwood Community Adult School campus to participate in the school wide clean-up. The volunteers cleared flower beds, picked up litter and trash, swept all areas around school, picked up trash on sidewalks, cleaned picnic tables and planted drought tolerant succulents, flowers, and shrubs.

I would especially like to recognize the Environmental Science students for their outstanding work in running the cleanup effort. Before the event, the Environmental Science students walked around campus to identify areas needing cleanup; then on Clean-up Day they assigned teams from different classes to specific areas and volunteered during the event. We also greatly appreciate the tremendous collaboration of the administration and Associated Student Body for approving funds to buy plants, soil, water and pizza for volunteers; Mrs. Hembrick for providing coffee and refreshments for all the volunteers; Mr. Fragoso for bringing all his gardening tools and fertilizer to enrich the soil in the flower beds; Mrs. Cabrales, Mrs. Castelo, Mr. Wiseman, Mrs. Robinson, Mr. Ramos and Jeaneth Aguirre  for donating plants, soil and most importantly their time. You helped make the event a success.

Lynwood Community Adult School is very grateful to the students of LCAS for their participation—together, we made a tangible difference to beautify the school’s environment. Their dedication is testament to the high regard Lynwood Community Adult School students place in their school.

Again, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers for donating their time and energy to make our school cleaner and more attractive for everyone.
