How to Register

ADULT SECONDARY EDUCATION[ASE]/HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA

New Students:

  • Please bring official, signed and sealed copy of transcripts from your last school.
  • Complete a placement exam.

Returning Students:

  • Bring your Associated Student Body ID Card.
  • Meet with a staff member to schedule your classes and complete the registration form.

Placement Exam Location & Schedule

LCAS is located behind Lynwood High School (4050 E. Imperial Hwy., Lynwood, CA 90262).  Student parking lot is located behind the Christian Vigilance Church at 11111 Harris Avenue.

Placement exams are administered Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 AM - 6:30 PM and Friday from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM.

CONCURRENTLY ENROLLED HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Students who are concurrently enrolled in a High School who want to recover or make-up high school credits may enroll at Lynwood Community Adult School if they meet the following criteria:

  • Must be in the 11th or 12th grade and
  • Must be at least 16 years old by June 30, 2019.

Procedure for students concurrently enrolled in a Lynwood Unified School District high school:

  • Meet with your counselor to determine which classes can be made-up at Lynwood Community Adult School. (Students may enroll for a maximum of two classes.)
  • With the help of your counselor, complete the Concurrent Student Enrollment Form and obtain all the required signatures (counselor, parent and student).
  • Present the Concurrent Student Enrollment Form at the time of enrollment along with the applicable registration fees and/or Materials Fee(s) ().

Procedure for students concurrently enrolled in a high school OUTSIDE of Lynwood Unified School District:

  • Request a letter from your counselor written on school letterhead giving you permission to attend Lynwood Community Adult School. This letter MUST be presented at the time of enrollment with the Concurrent Student Enrollment Form.
  • Meet with your counselor to determine which classes can be made-up at Lynwood Community Adult School. (Students may enroll for a maximum of two classes.)
  • With the help of your counselor, complete the Concurrent Student Enrollment Form and obtain all the required signatures (counselor, parent and student).
  • Present the Concurrent Student Enrollment Form at the time of enrollment along with the Student Body Fee ($15) and Materials Fees ($10/class if applicable).

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE

New Students:

  • Be prepared to take a placement evaluation, which may include an oral interview and/or a paper/pencil placement test.Please see the schedule below.
  • Complete the Registration Form.

Returning Students:

  • Bring your Associated Student Body ID Card.
  • Complete the Registration Form.
  • If you have not attended this school for more than 6 months, be prepared to take a placement evaluation, which may include an oral interview and/or a paper/pencil placement test. Please see the New ESL Student placement exam schedule below.

ESL Placement Exam Location & Schedule

HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY [HSE] PREPARATION CLASS (includes preparation for GED and HiSET exams)

  • Complete the Registration Form.
  • If you are a continuing/returning student, please bring your Associated Student Body ID Card.
  • New students must complete a placement exam.
