LCAS Students Participate in an Adult Literacy SmartPhone Application Trial

One of the exciting activities of the Adult Education and Family Literacy Week, Lynwood Community Adult School students were presented with an exciting opportunity to improve their reading skills through our partnership with the XPrize Foundation.
Qualified students (those who possess an Android smart phone and within the reading scores range on the CASAS Appraisal) were invited to participate in a year-long evaluation of a randomly selected smartphone application designed to assist the adult learner improve his/her reading skills with engaging educational content. Students who met the qualifications and agreed to participate in the program walked away with a $25 gift card and a cool new learning app.  Students who are able to complete the year-long trial may be eligible to receive a free smartphone.
